Ben-Gurion wanted all Jews in the world to move to Israel. The Jews wanted to move to Israel. Most Jews who came to Israel were able to sell their homes, and bring their money to Israel. Following the massacre at Lydda (today's Lod), the 50,000 residents who were the victims of ethnic cleansing were robbed by IDF soldiers at gunpoint as they left. Then they were forced to march for three days, without food or water, during a summer heat wave, to the Arab front lines. Hundreds died during this death march from illness, dehydration, and exhaustion. According to Benny Morris, (future Israeli Prime Minister) Yitzhak Rabin signed the expulsion order, which included the following: "... 1. The inhabitants of Lydda must be expelled quickly without attention to age. ... 2. Implement immediately."
