Whether real or not, the perception that Jews were collaborating with the Soviets in the Eastern occupied Poland was the real reason why some Poles changed their opinions of Jews after 1943. And to patriotic Pole, there's nothing worse than abandoning the allegiance to the country of your birth. Of course that is a simplification, and the true reason might have been the instinctive "blaming the victim" attitude brought on by the weariness of war. "It's Jews' fault that Nazis are here".
