In this holiday season it's perhaps appropriate to point out that Bethlehem, just South of East Jerusalem is in the "occupied West Bank". Jesus (according to the flesh)was an Israeli Jew, his relatives were Israeli Jews. Bethlehem was an Israeli Jewish town. As was Jerusalem, East &, West. Others lived in those areas too, but the area as a whole was Jewish. People may ask Israelis to give up ancestral connections to land in the hope of achieving peace, but it's unfair to claim that Israeli Jews are there illegally. And counter-productive, since Israelis are more likely to be willing to give up religious, historical & cultural ties to a particular piece of land if at least their right to be there is recognized, and if the sacrifice is appreciated. The underlying problem is however, that most Palestinians don't recognize at all the historic connection of Jews to the land, and don't recognize the right of Jews to an independent Jewish country, and so 'settlers' are not the real issue.
