    The original plan under the Mandate envisaged the Jewish State of Israel extending westwards from the western shores of the River Jordan, encompassing Judea and Samaria, and including Jerusalem (which has never been a principal/capital Muslim city). Tiny Israel was much smaller than the land designated for Muslims but Jews did not object even though 99% of the Middle East is Muslim-owned. Yet the land designated for Muslims, Transjordan – now called Jordan – was the very huge region extending eastwards from the eastern shores of the River Jordan. And it was assumed that some Jews would be happy to remain living over the border in Transjordan, and that some Muslims would be happy to remain in the Jewish State, living peacefully in their traditional way of life undisturbed, alongside Jewish communities. That is how it should be. (Yet note, all Jews were cruelly thrown out of Transjordan).
