The Christians have as much claim to Jerusalem as the Muslims have, maybe more, yet I don't see them demanding their share of the city. In most wars, the victor keeps the land. If Israel gives back the west bank or gives some other land to the Palestinians, such as along the border with Egypt or the southern Mediterranean north of Gaza, the Palestinians should forget about Jerusalem. No one in his or her right mind really believes that Muhammad went to Jerusalem on a winged horse - was he descended from Belleraphon? The story is as fantastic as anything in Greek mythology. The city was built by the Jews and I don't think it unreasonable that the Israelis want to keep it, especially in light of the restrictions placed on Jewish visitors to holy sites in East Jerusalem before 1967. Israel's land-grabbing in parts of the west bank area is a lot less excusable.
