    ...In Israel, being in the army is a great equalizer in society. All patriotic Israeli citizens who can, go into the Army to defend the country (there should also be a way for Israeli Arabs to perform national service and there are many Arabs that even serve in the Army but that's another issue for another discussion). In addition to training how to fight, there is much time that can be spent on Jewish education as part of a formal conversion process for the many (especially Russian) immigrants who do not have official Jewish documentation and who want this for many reasons. The Army is an excellent place to do this and there are IDF Rabbis who can perform these conversions.
