At the beginning of the State, there were a group of Palestinian Jews that practiced passivity to its own deteriment. The didn't even fight back in self-defense to the almost daily attacks by Arabs on civilians in the area, even during the major attacks of 1920, 1929, 1936-37. So strong was their will to remain passive in hopes of "winning" the arabs over, they were willing to pay with their own lives. Thus, normal citizens created a militia force to fight the Arab on-salught led by the fiery words of al-Husseini. This was over 58 years ago but the situation remains the same - a passive Left believing if we treat dogs (terrorists, not Palestinians as a whole) like gentlemen, they will soon learn to wear a tuxedo and speak with an aristocratic European accent. It failed then, it is failing now.
