For one thing, most Security guards in Eilat are either just out of the Army (20-22 years old) or are men in their late 50's or older. Though most security guards have their pistols on a lanyard clipped to their belts, some don't bother with the lanyard, which I'm guessing is the case here. It would be an easy thing to just walk up behind the guard and pull the pistol from his holster.
