    there may be a fine line between negative "influence" and negative "views" (or "opinions", as the bertelsmann-poll says), however, there's also a fine line between what mrs. schultens told about the poll and what she did not tell us. first of all she didn't tell one important passage, namely the following one (page 51 of the poll): "the negative image of israel (in germany) that currently exists is probably in part due to the demonstrable anti-semitism in germany. on top of this there is the high profile the german media accord to the middle east conflict, as a result of which israel is primarily perceived to be a source of unrest and conflict." this shows that a negative opinion can have a negative influence, whether mrs. schultens accepts this or not. by the way: the whole poll can be found here: http://www.bertelsmann-stiftung.de/bst/de/media/xcms_bst_dms_20283_20284_2.pdf
