Turkey wants to gain more geopolitical legitimacy in the region and as such is using Israel to do this. Following many years of staying away from ME politics and trying to be part of Europe Turkey is doing a crash integration by getting involved in the Israeli/Arab conflict - which of course carries an easy entry but not a very easy exit and requires tramendous commitment. As of right now the flotilla is apparently Turkey's 9/11 - a very interesting start and definitely while making many Arab masses happy, and they are always happy when Israel is not, those who are players in ME don't really understand what Turkey is doing exactly. Abbas himself was really confused. So unless Turkey has some plan, which it does not seem it does, I recommend Turkey stay out of it otherwise once you get socked in it's very hard to staget out. very hard
