The demand of the government of Israel is not to recognize it as a Jewish state. Specifically, the demand is rather to recognize it as the nation-state of the Jewish people. Implicit in this demand are several things: 1)The Jews constitute a people (note, not just people but a specific people!) 2)As a people, the Jewish people has (not have!) the right afforded to all other peoples based on the universally right to national self-determination and statehood 3)The State of Israel is the manifestation of this universally accepted right as it applies to the Jewish people Refusal to recognize the above amounts to racism, anti-Jewish racism, especially by people who do recognize the uiversally accepted right of all peoples to national self-determination and statehood but single out the Jewish people, a people, a race really, a nearly 4,000 year old people as a collective that has the right as all other peoples.
