sanction of such wide focus are to cause civil unrest, the term moderate is used liberally. But it is all domestic and the 'moderation' is to reduce tensions with the younger generations. Now he can't fix the economy without sanction being removed. So he can allow a less strict environment domestically, they have done this before under so called moderates, but foreign policy wise it stays the same. Whether that is nuclear or terror. Like Mousavi was a moderate. So smaller uprising crushed in 2009/10 and the Iranian know the result, then they have seen the slaughter in Syria, election of a moderate as a concession. With sanctions and increased sanctions Iran will be domestically stable for a few years yet before without changing course on the region or the nuclear issue at least over the period of this Presidential term. Then we will all have to wait to see what new trick the Supreme Ayatollah has up his sleeve at that point.
