What it boils down to is that, during the Gaza op, Israel argues that they killed a thousand civilians by accident and, since it accidental, they bear no responsibility. This argument will not sell well out of Israel. In fact, this argument is quite damning. Any subtle changes that Goldstone may make, or, even if he totally reversed himself, will not change the facts. It is the facts that are damning. The spin can't make it better but the spin can make it worse. Right now, Israel is spinning up a storm and Goldstone is looking like a loon.
