Israels goal in Gaza is to cause a humanitarian crisis in such a way that there are no complaints, no media reaction, and no UN reaction. Furthermore they want to do this while denying that there is even a humanitarian crisis at all. Actually, Israel knows the laws of supply and demand better than most. If there are shortages of a "high demand" item, the price goes up. If there is a shortage of fuel, then only the rich will buy it. The poor are always the ones to suffer the most and this is the segment which will be gifted with a "humanitarian crisis". It is the usual misguided Israeli strategy that if Israel makes the innocent suffer in reaction to Hamas activities, then the innocent will blame Hamas rather than Israel. This same failed strategy causes the inordinately high number of civilian casualties in IDF operations, including over 1000 dead civilians in the war with Hizbollah. This strategy is why Israels unpopularity is reaching an all-time high in the world.
