France capitulated to Turkish bullying. Capitulation is hardly a viable model for Israel to follow. Leaving aside for the moment the question of Israel's honor, consider the following: The real reason that Israeli-Turkish relationship has soured was the rise of Edrogron's party in 2003. He has made a long term strategic decision to turn Israel into an enemy, and to curry favor with the Arab/Islamic world. He proposes to rebuild a 21st century version of the Ottoman empire. He intends lead it by catering to anti-Israeli sentiment. The flotilla was preceded by years of anti-Israeli propaganda in the state controlled media, and virulent speeches against Israel in international bodies. The crisis in relations is not the result of a "misunderstanding". Rather, it is the result of a carefully thought out Turkish diplomatic strategy. Therefore, no apology, or series of apologies, will restore relations. All an apology will do is validate Edrogran's strategy of attacking Israel. Israel does not need Turkey. Turkey is making itself no friends in Europe, threatening Cyprus with war over gas fields, and bullying the French into burying its Armenian genocide law.
