It is now illegal for Israelis to visit Bethlehem or Jericho (a decision of the Netanyahu government). It is also only possible, for both Israelis and non-Muslim tourists, to visit our own Temple Mount except during extremely restricted hours of the day. This is to give Muslims complete control of their sacred mosques, Dome of the Rock and Al Aksa. But this is in contrast to the right given Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem to travel anywhere they want throughout Israel. It’s not right--and may well have led to an aggressive Palestinian guard opening lethal fire on Jews who exceeded their “privileges.” I believe a two-state solution must be accompanied by the right to travel--for all of us, everywhere in the land we share and call holy.
