The real issue today is that Muslims won't be satisfied until Israel ceases to exist. The ultimate Muslim definition of "Peace" is "No Israel". Unless the Muslims change, negotiations are really only the first step toward the elimination of Israel. The charters of Islamic organizations, the sermons of Imams, and the pronouncements of Muslim leaders all confirm this. Pretending otherwise may make some feel better for now. A large number of American Jews, and such "Friends of Israel" as J Street, think that things would be better if there was no Israel. That's OK for them. They are safe in the US. But, for the rest of the world's Jews, there is only Israel. It is a simpler matter to anguish over a Holocaust that has already occurred, than it is to take the actions required to prevent one. Israel's security and survival should not be negotiable, and certainly should not be left in the hands of those who would prefer that it disappear..
