As a Canadian citizen I am ashamed of my governments uncritical and immoral support of Israel. We get very little news about Israel in our national press unless somehow it can be spun in a positive way. Instaed I have been reading Amnesty International, B 'Tselum, Haaratz in an attempt to understand the situation from a "local perspective" It has just left me more stunned to think that we as a country support Israeli actions; continued construction in Palestinian land while pretending to support peace and a two state solution, aggressive military actions against mostly unarmed civilians, torture, arbitrary arrest, state sponsored assassination, the removal of women from sacred sites, the supression of free speech (boycot law).....it goes on. If this was Saddam or Assad or Ghadafi Canada would be righteously standing up for justice but why do we support Israel in its continuing war crimes???
