The sea incident is international in nature and scope and will clearly lead to an international investigation and findings. Rather than rejecting what is natural and sure to take place, Israel should welcome it and presents its case both to the probe and the world. Having an international probe rather than local is also an Israeli interest. The leadership of Israel, both the political and the military, failed and in a major way. Barak’s using the soldiers as the reason for local probe is artificial and pathetic. He is trying to cover his gross failures by waving the soldiers flag. Won’t work. The soldiers got wounded, people killed, the whole operation was clumsy from start to finish. All the relevant systems failed. Intelligence, political and execution. An international investigation, not like an internal one, will expose their failures for all to see and will force the Israeli failed political and Army leadership to leave their office. And this is good for Israel. To sum, a mere Israeli internal investigation is simply not an option and rightly so.
