    the author's point is right. ultimately it's in Israel's interest to have fatah defeated and hamas the winner. that way there is one clear enemy and no need to be careful who they strike. hamas will never change their position, the international comunity will never recognize them and therefore a palestinian state will never arise. meanwhile Israel will pull out of much of the west bank while keeping the large blocks in tact. Teh world will recognize Israel's unilateral steps due to no partner to work with and grant Israel a total green light to hit back hard when unproked attacks like the current rocket fire on Israel's territory occurs. When we get to this point in a few years Israel will do do gaza what it did to lebanon -teach them a lessonthey wopn't soon forget.
