The scenario of the US and Israel engaged in an aerial confrontation while Israeli planes are enroute to Iraq is unlikely. I am not sure if the Obama administration has the political will to confront Iran but I know there is major deal making going on. The "settlement freeze" was an attempt to foster an Arab "green light" for Israel to attack Iran just as the termination of the Polish missile shield is an attempt to secure Russian backing against Iran. Brzezinski is not relevant and his views are often in sync with Jimmy Carter's dovish views. Iran blurs the lines between state and terror group by it's sponsorship of Hezbollah and Hamas. This bluring gives Iran bases in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon. Most opinion is in favour of stopping Iran's nuclear program. Yet an attack by Israel or the US would not have international or UN backing. Allied naval and air supremecy means that a blockade is the only way to confront Iran, however this may end in a major regional war as well.
