It's a fact that most (if not all) of the facilities used by Prof. Shechtman were funded by donors through the American Technion Society. All major higher education facilities in Israel rely on "Friends of " organizations to provide what the government doesn't. But Israel is not short of its own wealthy, whether of the financial or industrial variety, or young multi-millionaires who sold their high-tech startups. Why are *they* not giving back to those institutions that helped train them?
