'A family is a father, mother and children, and not two fathers and a child,' said Avi Wurtzman during his previous Knesset stint. While doing nothing to advance socioeconomic issues, he did initiate a 23 million shekel project for daily study of Torah.09:29 01.12.15 | 1 comments
How can there ever be peace when there is no fairness , no justice. When the weaker party is not able to respond in kind,it is forced to respond in any way it can whether it is fair or not.One has to be able to look at things from the other sides's perspective. When there is no justice , there is no peace. It may take 10 years ,100 years or even a 1000 years, but true peace can only return when each sides' aspirations are met. Jewish aspirations were met at the expense of Palestinian aspirations in the creation of Israel in 1948.Israel has to realise that the Palestinians are the victims of history at this time.Israel should be actively working to meet the aspirations of the palestinian people to create a Homeland for them.It is not enough to say that they do not have a partner to work with.Until that happens( palestinian aspirations are met and at least some semblance of justice is restored), peace will remain elusive. Slavery , apartheid, imperialism, overt racism (mostly) have all been banished to the dustbins of history, so will the injustice in the Mideast ,one day. Might is not right even if the aggressor passionately believes it is so .It is in Israel's interest to realize this and avoid disproportionate use of force despite provocations and not dehumanize the other side but to realize their plight. I do not have any connection to the palestinians or to Israel.I am a citizen of the world and that is how the situation appears to me as I am sure it is to any unbiased observer.
