I am an American and I agree with Ilan. Israel is an independent country which has absorbed nearly half the Jews of the world. The American and diaspora contribution was significant in the early years but today represents only a few percent of the GNP. But the most disturbing aspect of Diaspora behavior has been the refusal by diaspora Jews (French excepted) to visit Israel since the diaspora began. Had diaspora Jews had the courage to visit since 2000, they would have witnessed a people living vibrant lives under constant stress.
