What Schocken means, what he does not say directly, is that what Israel must do is withdraw , and push for the establishment of a Palestinian state. But that is of course the opposite of what Israel needs now. Israel needs to not be too closely limited by the Lebanese perspective. It needs to see beyond Hizbollah and understand the true threates coming may well be much greater on many different fronts. This means looking at whats happening in Sinai, in the south of the country as well as the north. The Iranian threat of course is the one which is outstanding. In any case we need a level of thinking and planning which we did not get in the Lebanon war.
