A construction freeze in the West Bank could have led to negotiations and a modus vivendi with the PA, but the religious naionalists, Lieberman and ultimately Netenyahu opted for the settlements and exclusive sovereignty over the Old City and greater Jerusalem instead. The hang tough forever against an increasingly hostile world and native population is a time honored way to failure, but no doubt the right wing coalition will continue the dance under the delusion that they are being realistic. They will only come to their senses when they perceive they have no other choice, and by then it will be too late. The backbone of the right wing needs to pray to God with ferver and intensity from Israel, because their children, if they survive, will be doing so from somewhere else, and their sages will be talking about exile as the judgment of God for their sins, and it will not occur to them at all to attribute the fault to their own chavinisim and stupidiy.
