The author should read UN resolution 181, which states very clearly that the UN voted to establish two independent states in Mandatory Palestine, one Arab and one Jewish. The Palestinian Jewish community accepted the UN plan, and in spite of the war the Arabs started, was able to establish the Jewish state. The Israeli Declaration of Independence clearly states that Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people, exactly as the UN decided. Like many other nation-states, Israel has a special relationship with members of the of the Jewish people who reside abroad. Laws, similar to the Israeli Law of Return, are found in many states, like Ireland, Greece, Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Germany,Slovenia, Slovakia and others. The Israeli Arab citizens should have full equality, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, but they should be aware that they are citizens of the nation-state of the Jewish people.
