In the arab world Jews are the enemy always have been and we are enemies. In Israel religious Jews are proudly hated by seculars not because they are Jews or we are in a state of war with them but because they are religious and their culture clashes with secular culture. When it comes to national service its a no win situation right for religious Jews, if they don't do national service everybody hates them for it and says they are scroungers who contribute nothing while secular kids go off and join the army. If they do national service and continue to practice their religion ( which they must be allowed to do ) they are condemned for it. In this case is it wrong for the orthodox Jews to dream of one day having a orthodox settler as commander in Judea & Samaria? In the US wasn't there a time when blacks dreamed of becoming senior officers in the military because at that time nobody rose through the ranks if they were black but today we say it was right that they had these ambitions. If orthodox Jews dream of having a settler as police commander then good luck to them, hated or not even an orthodox Jew is entitled to an ambition.
