This important point is lost on many Israelis, including leaders such as Vice PM Ya'alon and FM Lieberman (if he even thinks in such terms). When ties between Israel and Turkey were initiated, the strategic interest for both countries was to join forces against their Arab haters, especially in Syria. Since then the world has changed greatly. With the Arab Spring, Syria is teetering and is no threat to Turkey. Also, Democratic Turkey became an admired model for the Arabs. In addition, Erdogan has made friends with many of his neighbors, including Iran, and brought Turkey to the point of having great stature and influence locally. At the same time, the Right in Israel has made many local enemies. Turkey no longer needs Israel for strategic reasons. Her interest was reduced to minor economic reasons such as Israeli tourism and some cheaper military equipment also available elsewhere. It therefore can INSIST on apology, compensation, and even the lifting of the Gaza siege. At some point, Israel will recognize her error of antagonizing Turkey and capitulate. This is what you get from the non-statesmen and soviet bullies that run Israel today.
