This important point is lost on many Israelis, including leaders such as Vice PM Ya'alon. When ties between Israel and Turkey were initiated, the strategic interest for both countries was to join forces against the Arab haters, especially in Syria. Since then the world has changed greatly. With the Arab Spring, Syria is teetering and is no threat to Turkey. Also, Democratic Turkey became an admired model for the Arabs. In addition, Erdogan has made friends with many of his neighbors, including Iran, and brought Turkey to the point of having great stature and influence locally. At the same time, the Right in Israel made many local enemies. Turkey no longer needs Israel. It therefore can INSIST on apology, compensation, and even the lifting of the Gaza siege. At some point, Israel will recognize her error and capitulate. This is what you get from the non-statesmen and soviet bullies that run Israel.
