Several issues stand in the way of an agreement, including Turkish demands of unfettered access to the Gaza Strip, and Hamas activity in Turkey.17:16 11.02.16 | 0 comments
Clinton just can't see the strategic game being played here. Hamas is the best thing to happen to Likud in a decade. Every rocket is another LIkud voter. Abbas helps Kadima by providing a moderate face that makes the peace process look viable. If Abbas were replaced by some Hamas loony, then Israel could claim there is no partner for peace and continue expansionism. So ... considering these obvious motivating factors, it should be clear to everyone that the Netanyahu LIkud government has every reason to attempt to undermine and cripple Abbas before the next elections. If Abbas gets replaced, no peace process, no Kadima votes, and more expansion.
