Something that I would ask Israeli readers to reflect upon. It is now entirely understood that Hamas was able to avail itself of Iranian supplied long(er) range surface to surface missiles. That relatively little damage was caused owes itself partly to the missile shield system the IDF has built itself. It probably also owes itself to missile aimers who, frankly, did not entirely know what they were doing. Posit this scenario: a further future flare up but this time involving the also Iranian sponsored Hizbollah immediately over your northern border. What if, as is entirely likely, they too have these missiles and are ready and fully trained to use them. There is no missile shield in the world, I suspect, that is capable of bringing down all the missiles if sufficient are fired in a co-ordinated and pre-determined attack. What would this mean? Incoming live rounds: big bangs in cities and potentially many dead and injured. So ask yourselves: can you continue to drag your feet and allow Netanyahu to conjure up yet another pretext, any pretext for not negotiating in good faith with the Palestinians to deliver a two-state solution based upon the pre-existing 1967 borders? Or are you going to roll the dice, chance to good luck and wish away the prospect of a peace deal because you believe that you can bluff your way out of any future "local difficulties"? If the latter, don't ever say that you weren't warned. So how on earth is Bibi the front runner to win the next election when he promises only more of the same - and no genuine peace negotiations.
