Seems to me that the act wasn't too popular among most marchers, and seems to me that allowing peer disapproval to run its course would do much more to curb the expression of any such sentiments than repressing it with security forces; which is only likely to increase it in the long run. Oops! But I forgot, Israel's fascists like to highlight incidents of this sort as part of its agenda to marginalize Arab-Israelis and portray them as an internal threat.
