The Israel-Arab conflict has been removed from the context of a struggle of two peoples for legitimacy to the context of a religious struggle between Islam and the Jews. I adduce the following evidence: 1. Israel enjoyed good relations with Iran before the Islamic Revolution there in i978. Today Iran is working for the destruction of Israel. 2. Israel enjoyed excellent relations with Turkey before the present Islamist government came to power. Since then relations have steadily deteriorated, and are on the way to rupture. 3. The majority of Muslim states do not have diplomatic relations with the State of Israel and many do not even recognize her, while almost all non-Muslim states do have diplomatic relations with Israel. It is only the less "religious" Muslim states, such as Kazakhstan, that do carry on relations with Israel. 4. Islamist movements in various countries are fervently anti-Zionist and even anti-Semitic. Some examples are the Islamic Movement in ISRAEL; Hezbollah in Lebanon; Hamas; the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt; the IHH in Turkey; and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the US. 5. Friday sermons in many mosques throughout the world are devoted to anti-Israel and even anti-Jewish diatribes. Some of these have been published on MEMRI. The only conclusions to be drawn from the above are: 1. Islam as it is taught, preached and practiced today is anti-Israel and even anti-Jewish, and the more devout the Muslim, the more anti-Israel and anti-Semitic he is. 2. The chances for reconciliation between Israel and the Arabs grow slimmer and slimmer as the Muslim World becomes more Islamist. Conflicts between two peoples can be solved; conflicts between two religions are almost impossible to solve without complete defeat of one of the sides. As evidence I adduce the Crusades and the Wars of the Reformation.
