All politics is local, and the real political interests and positions of various Jewish groups and streams in Israel and the USA only change very slowly. A fairly significant shift toward the center, however, called "Kadima" has now established itself at the center of global Jewish action. Given the tenuousness of its mandate and dependence on Ultra Orthodox parties it cannot make any breakthroughs on the ground, but it still might be able to promote a continuation of dialgue for the sake of future developments. Obviously, there is a mutual sympathy between each nation's right and left components, and so the barbs go back and forth on this talkback. But what this shows is the deeper covenantal and historical bond that has brought the USA and Israel together. Work to enhance the effectiveness of the interaction for both nations and the world.
