Israel is suffering a wakeup call from the disastrous presidency of GW Bush. Although he was brainwashed by evangelicals into believing that there were Biblical reasons for supporting Israel militarily, not all US presidents will be so idiotic. Even in 2008, Israeli politicians gave GW Bush a standing ovation, despite his disgraced standing worldwide. Bush gave far too much leeway to Israel and threw the Palestinians to the wolves. What is happening now is just an adjustment of the relationship under Obama to more of a peace mediator rather than kingmaker. Everybody in the US wants Israel to be secure, the AIPAC ensures that. We also want to uphold our moral standing. When you create the middle eastern version of apartheid, it is difficult to do that. The current regime even evokes sympathy for Hamas. Anyway, I am glad that there is a sizable portion of Israeli society that still wants peace. Hopefully you guys will vote out these lunatics in the next election cycle.
