The article needs to be understood keeping the following in mind: 1. the historical role of the Jewish Lobby in American politics - AIPAC, Foxman and the like 2. The US military-industrial complex profiting from the money the American taxpayer is giving to Israel 3. The US neocons' association with Israel's right wing 4. The pro-Zionist Christian zealots 5. The formation of a vocal minority in the national security community that argues Israeli policies are detrimental to the American interests 6. The rising antagonism towards Israel among ordinary Americans whose sense of fairness, democracy and justice is offended by Netanyahu's administration So, I believe the correct question needs to be asked - given all of the above, when Israel becomes prominent in American politics, is it good for America?
