Israeli information provided to the US cannot influence the way in which the Sunni and the Shiites are once again at loggerheads in Syria and Lebanon. The Western World doesn't need situation reports from Israel to follow events in Syria - including the use of gas. This is a local religious war that is still in its initial phase. The eight year Iraq-Iran war is a precedent for the ongoing internecine conflict in Syria. Iraq too - used poison gas in its war against Iran. Gideon's claim that Israel is "telling tales" thereby seeking to influence the US is both off the point and totally irrelevant. This kind of nonsense doesn't deserve a page in Ha'aretz...really. Israel has every right to voice its concerns for the tragic events taking place "next door". Would anybody say nothing if they knew that a neighbour was killing his wife and children?
