If the article of Amos Harel makes anything clear, is that the Israeli leadership doesn’t know where it is going. No clear vision on what problems to solve first, or how to solve them. Intervene militarily in Lebanon? Make peace with Syria? How to get negotiations continuing with the PA? Not to mention how to asses the Iranian threat, or how to deal with Hamas. I am afraid they will fall back on their old reflex of applying massive military force to counter political problems, which of course will solve nothing, as it didn’t solve anything before. It only bought some time at the expense of Israel’s image abroad. Of course it permits you to keep on building settlements, but that is the surest way to a big bang somewhere in the future. When will Israel finally develop a solid long term vision, which brings a peaceful coexistence with its neighbours closer?
