Several times while reading this article I was so surprised by its content that I had to scroll up and verify the author. Is Akiva Eldar supporting outright transfer and even calling it humanitarian? Is it ok to have transfers of population, even forcibly expelling people from their homes, as long as they are given homes elsewhere. Would he sit quietly if similar aragngements were made in Israel as were made in Bosnia, or other countries after WW2? I doubt it, if it were Arabs being kicked out he would be screaming bloody murder. I for one have no problem with such a position but it is a two way street. if this is "ok" to do to Gaza settlers, then it would be completely fair and just to transfer ALL the Arabs in Israel to Gaza or some other territory as long as they are given houses making Israel a completely Jewish land, and the Arabs having a completely separate state somewhere else. This is true unilateral separation. Arabs to one place Jews to another with ZERO overlap. According to Eldar's logical reasoning we can start deporting all the Arabs tomorrow and replacing them with Jewish settlers just as long as we make sure it is not to refugee camps but to houses somewhere else. I am quite pleased to have him on the "transfer" side, and invite him to take up a position in his new right wing extremist home. Articles like the one above show the death and burial of the left wing and any false dreams of coexistence. When Haaretz prints editorials in favor of transfer, it shows that the philosophy of the far right has won supreme and now the only question is what the future borders will be.
