Everybody is supposed to hate Hamas. Israelis hate them. The Gazan people have mixed feelings, and now Iran is upset with them. This has set up a power struggle between Hamas and other Gaza militant groups. Israel takes their usual line that third parties, in this case Hamas, place Israel's interests before their own. Israel would like to see a war between militant groups in Gaza. Hamas is a little too smart to play Israel's game and they will simply go limp for the time being, neither attacking Israel nor hatling the attacks of others. If Israel wants Hamas to be their dogs as Fatah once was, they need to toss their dog a bone once ni a while. All Israel has for Hamas is a good kick. Fair enough. But don't expect Hamas to do tricks for you.
