Despite the good work being done in medical research and the sciences at places like Tel Aviv U, Hebrew U, and Ben Gurion, I can't bring myself to support them. Money, after all, is fungible, and I won't subsidize the counterproductive work of its Humanities and Social Sciences departments. I do, however, support Weizmann and Technion. And if those other institutions would spin off the H and SS departments - making them earn their own keep - I'd be prepared to support the productive remainder. And apparently I'm not alone. Some months ago, one of Tel Aviv U's governors not only resigned but pulled all future funding after the President refused to consider sanctions on those who promote boycotts of their own institution.
