This, and other events, show how Fatah and Hamas are quite similar: both have armed wings, and both have military wings. Moreover, both have it in their doctrines, either implicitly as revealed through their acts or expitly stated in their charters (or both), that it is okay to kill their own civilians and Israeli civilians. Yet Abbas was never blamed when Al-Aqsa, the military wing of his party, repeatedly launced qassams into Israel. Haniyeh, on the other hand, is branded as a terrorist even though Hamas is doing a better job of not attacking Israel than is Fatah. It seems this is evidence that Israel (and US, for that matter) simply wants a weak government for the Palestinians, not a "terror-free" one. Additionally, this seems further evidence that certain elements in the Israeli and US governments are using Hamas' stature as an excuse to bring the Palestinian people to their knees using inhumane and internationally illegal means.
