Regardless of who 'wins' the civil war. I think even Ahmadinejad has said Iran will accept a peace agreement with Israel if that is the will of the Palestinian people. No one in the Arab/Muslim world as far as I know approves of the way Israel is dealing with the Palestinians, whatever they may think of Palestinian actions. Olmert is aware of perceptions that Israel is ducking negotiations, whether he plans to proove them wrong or just maintain his bob and weave is quite another question. The Shiite crisis is giving Sunni Arabs powerful motivation to want Israel-Palestine peace. I think an Israeli acknowledgement that large number of innocent Palestinians were harmed in the creation of Israel should be acceptable to the Arabs as a starting point of negotiations. No one should be afraid to negotiate and both sides should be prepared to listen carefully to what the other side says.
