To do so would piss off Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi and the UAE. Granted, Iran couldn't care less about Iraq or Kuwait, but Saudi is no small matter and the UAE has at least a moderate amount of influence in the Arab world. This would effectively shut off Iran from most (if not all) of their Arab "partners". I also doubt they would get much support (other than, perhaps, verbal rhetoric) from India, China, Russia or North Korea. Cutting off the strait of Hormuz would do more harm to Iran than anyone else.
