First of all, Iran never threatened to wipe Israel off the map. It was a mistranslation. There is no such ideom in Farsi language. They have stated over and over again after this incident that their president, who is not as crazy as people think, did not mean to threaten destruction of Israel. Secondly, Iran, sadly, is one of the most democratic and pluralistic states in the region. At least when you compare it to Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Arab countries (Saudis, et. al.) You have to understand that Iran is not Europe, Iranian people choose to live the way they live, and you cannot blame them for it. Iran has a thriving Jewish community of some 20000, and you cannot accuse them of anti-semitism. Remember that 100% of Jews left Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and other Arab states; but only a handfull (60,000) left Iran, and most to the USA, not Israel. When analyzing Iran and the behaviour of its leadership, one should concentrate on the facts, and not of propaganda of the US and Israel.
