The Ozes by no means claim that Kafka and his generation "fell off the Jewish continuum", but that they were caught in the throes of modernity in a very Jewish way. Also: the book does not resolve the reviewer's identity issues? Thankfully, it is not intended to resolve them, but to enrich Jewish self-perusal and open new horizons for an age-old debate.
