We are stuck using paradigms more suitable for Europe then at all relevant to the American reality. The Jews in the United States are not in a process of assimilation, rather, they have been integrated into the American ethnoparadigm and general culture. Jews and their religion and culture are now a part of the general culture and Jews as people have been integrated into the white society in the same spirit as other "ethnics" such as Italians, Greeks, and the Irish. In other words, unlike in the European paradigm of assimilation in which the Jew melts away into the ambient culture, the Jew and his culture have mixed in, contributed to, and have become a part of the ambient culture. While there may not be any non-orthodox Jewish people in the future, Jews and Judaism will continue be a part of the American culture for as long as it lasts.
