This fear-of-criticism-of-Israel-censorship is now routine and each time it happens it makes news. It betrays insecurity, the clout of those who contribute money to the organizations that censor and the Israel-right-or-wrong views of those contributors. Take note of the quote: "“We’ve brought people from all over the world, and it’s a massive spectrum of respectable individuals who are coming to celebrate and criticize and be Jewish but our platform is that we have a line and we don’t cross that line." So there you have it, it isn't a Jewish festival at all, it is a Jewish supporters of Israel festival, that wants only "respectable individuals" as determined by the festival director. The irony is Ms. Woolf intended to say nothing about Israel in her festival appearance, but now her views on Israel are fully presented to a far wider audience than the attendees of Le Mood.
