The end of th occupation is indeed a prerequisite for a return to normalcy in Israel. It appears that the agenda of Amir Peretz addresses this by noting that the growing economic despiar in Israel is inextricably related to the huge expenditures on maintaining colonialist settlements. Peretz also introduces a new mindset into the Israeli political landscape by noting that the occupation is not only bad strategically but is immoral. Social and economic justice are not only good for Israeli politically, they are ethical imperatives as well.
